Design Research Unit Wales (DRU-w) are hosting a pop-up exhibition in a disused shop in the Royal Arcade, Cardiff. 'Preview', which opens 8th March, will transform the Victorian shop with large scale drawings, models, and photographs. The exhibition will explore ideas of place, material innovation, territory and building simply through recent and ongoing projects. These include the RIBA Award winning Margam Discovery Centre, the Environmental Resource Centre in Ebbw Vale and the Sustainable Building Envelope Centre in Shotton.
DRU-w is a unique form of practice combining award-winning design, research and teaching. A collaboration of young architects and designers, we work within Wales’ challenging and inspiring cultural, political and economic climate. Our aim is to make architecture of simple forms, well crafted, with a strong sense of materiality and inspired by what we see around us; local buildings for local people. The practice was a recent finalist in the Young Architect of the Year Awards 2010.
Location: 28-30 Royal Arcade, Cardiff
Opening hours: 11am-4pm, 8th-11th March
