CRiBE - Centre for Research in the Built Environment visit CRiBE
Consultancy within the Welsh School of Architecture is undertaken through the business focussed Centre for Research in the Built Environment (CRiBE). CRiBE is unique in Wales and provides a complete design and environmental consultancy service across all aspects of the built environment. CRiBE's interdisciplinary expertise can be successfully applied to both large international and small local practices and businesses.
CRiBE is a designated 'centre of excellence' by the Welsh Assembly Government, recognising the CRiBE's role in supporting the research needs of industry.
DRUw - Design Research Unit Wales visit DRU
The Design Research Unit provides a research based approach to architectural design, urban design and landscape projects, focusing on sustainability, place-making, tectonic form and sensitive contexts.
Work is carried out in partnership with industry. Projects are shaped through rigorous and critical analysis of all parameters shaping the conceptualisation, development and solution of the project.
WERC - Wales Energy Research Centre
visit WERC
WERC is a partnership of internationally recognised experts from Welsh Universities, including Architecture and Engineering at Cardiff, Engineering at Swansea, the Bangor Photovoltaics group, and the Hydrogen and Energy from Waste group at Glamorgan University. WERC carries out interdisciplinary industrial research across all aspects of energy and provides an energy research base for Welsh Industry.
SuDOBE - Sustainable Design of the Built Environment visit suDOBE
The Centre for Sustainable Design of the Built Environment (SuDOBE) is a joint venture between the Building Research Establishment (BRE), the Welsh Assembly Government and the Welsh School of Architecture in Cardiff University
SuDobe creates a focus for continued collaboration between BRE, WAG and WSA to promote sustainable design in Wales, the UK and internationally.
LCRI - Low Carbon Research Institute visit LCRI
The LCRI provides the capacity for Welsh Universities to seek funding for large energy projects by targeting cross-disciplinary research in the energy field. LCRI co-ordinates research, technology development / demonstration and knowledge transfer. It will seek to achieve long term affordable low carbon energy costs, use energy efficiently from different sources, reduce energy demand across all sectors, be less dependent on imported fuels and reduce impact on climate change.
CEBE - Centre for Education in the Built Environment visit CEBE
CEBE is part of the Subject Network of Higher Education Academy providing discipline based support to enhance the quality of learning & teaching in the UK Higher Education Built Environment community.
CEBE's mission is to support the community of Built Environment educators in its endeavours to shape knowledgeable, skilled, distinctive, adaptable and creative graduates. This is achieved through the sharing and dissemination of good practice, events and publications and engagement with pedagogic research.
PRASADA - Reseach Indian Temples visit PRASADA
Practice, Research and Advancement in South Asian Design and Architecture (PRASADA). PRASADA is the centre for studying the architectural traditions of South Asia and its Diaspora.
The centre aims to integrate academic research with creative practice through research projects and publications, design consultancy work, teaching and postgraduate research programmes.
