4th June 2008

To mark the Official Opening of the Cardiff HPC Centre of Excellence, jointly hosted by ARCCA and Bull, a series of brief presentations showcased the new SRIF-3 procured supercomputer, the people involved in the procurement, and the journey and future vision of the partnership. Guest speakers included key figures from ARCCA and Bull, together with representatives from APC, Comtec, and the University of Düsseldorf. The event took place in the University's Redwood Building (Building number 33 on the map - click on Redwood building for full address and directions) Cybercafe from 9:15am.

Lunch provided an opportunity to meet delegates, view posters highlighting research being undertaken at Cardiff, and to take part in a tour of the brand new machine room.

A research seminar "Accelerating Discovery using Advanced Research Computing" took place in the afternoon in the Bute Building Lecture Theatre 1.61 (Building number 45 on the map) completing the series of events to celebrate the launch of ARCCA.
