23 July 2010
An all-Wales University supercomputing collaboration designed to boost the Welsh economy and give access to some of the most advanced computer technology and skills has been officially launched.
The High Performance Computing Wales (HPC Wales) project will feature two main computer hubs at Cardiff and Swansea Universities, which will be linked to partner 'spokes' at Aberystwyth, Bangor and Glamorgan Universities, University of Wales Alliance Universities and Technium business innovation centres around Wales.
Cardiff University's Advanced Research Computing @ Cardiff (ARCCA) will provide the gateway for researchers at the University to access HPC Wales.
Over 100 innovation collaborative projects between universities and industry that would benefit from HPC technology have already been identified.
