Many people find that studying at University is a new challenge, and they need to find different ways of working and studying effectively. Support is available within the University for students wishing to improve on their study skills. You may find some of the following resources helpful:

Writing Centre

The English department runs a Writing Centre for students from any department; it is a free, friendly and confidential service for students having problems with writing and study skills.

  • Difficulties planning or organising an essay or paper
  • Unsure of the conventions of grammar, punctuation or referencing
  • Advice on writing a CV or completing an application form

The tutors are experienced and sympathetic and no appointment is needed.

Maths Support Service

Help for students studying any subject to assist with any maths based problems, no matter how small!

  • Phobia of Maths
  • Need refreshing in basic mathematical skills and techniques
  • Require additional help with the mathematical elements of their course
