This year the Academic and Skills Development Centre has not just expanded but have made some changes to how we operate.

Student Mentor Scheme
During 2013 - 2014 we recruited Student Mentor Consultants - a team of experienced Mentors who were available to assist those students who were new to the job.

Academic and Study Skills Classes
Students can now gain Certificates by following 5 classes offered through the Academic and Skills Development Centre, rewarding students for their work and commitment.  In feedback, 98% of students said they had learned something new to help them with their studies.  The timetable for Semester 2 is now available.  You can book your place on a class any time via our online booking system.

Student holding certificate

On Friday 31st January we hosted a Celebration Event in recognition of the commitment of our Student Mentors.  Certificates were presented by the Pro-Vice Chancellor for Student Experience & Academic Standards, Prof. Patricia Price and we had a short talk from two of our students - Hannah Doddrell from Earth Sciences spoke about why she applied to be a mentor and what the experience has meant to her whilst Grace Weatherill-Podbury from Business spoke about the experience and knowledge she has gained as a Mentor Consultant.  We then retired to Aberdare Hall for a wine reception.
