Mr Hugh Jones

Hugh Jones is Chief Operating Officer of the University, in which post he has responsibility for all aspects of the University’s professional and support services. He joined the University in April 2012.

Hugh graduated with a BSc(Econ) in Philosophy from the London School of Economics, and also holds a Masters degree from the University of London Institute of Education. Hugh’s career began with the Institution of Electrical Engineers; subsequently he has worked at the University of London Senate House; City University, London; and most recently spells as Academic Registrar and Deputy Director of Administration at St George’s, University of London (2004-2007); and Registrar and Secretary of Goldsmiths, University of London (2007-2012). Hugh is a Fellow of the Association of University Administrators, awarded in recognition of his work in supporting the Association’s professional development work.

Hugh’s brief at Cardiff is to ensure that the professional and support teams within Schools and in cross-university support departments deliver high-quality, effective and efficient support to the University’s academic work. He is line manager of the Directors of the central teams.
