We pursue the principles of sustainable development both in our engagement with external stakeholders and in the management of our internal operations.
We have been committed to sustainability for some time. In 2007 we agreed a Carbon Management Plan to reduce our carbon emissions. Performance against this plan is monitored regularly to ensure targets are met.
In May 2010 we became the first higher education institute in Wales to sign the Welsh Assembly Government's Sustainable Development Charter. This represented our commitment to future proof lives and communities across Wales.
We hope to bring about positive change through a programme of research, learning and teaching that addresses a range of sustainability issues.
Sustainable development research is a key strength across a range of subject areas. This is reflected in a number of major funding awards and the establishment of the cross-discipline Sustainable Places Research Institute.
